Goals and Objectives
- Solidify a strong Statewide Wood Energy Team that implements a collaborative, strategic approach to biomass energy development.
- Develop wood energy projects that expand markets for woody biomass generated from forest management projects on federal lands including national forests, and state, private and municipal lands.
- Increase awareness of, and interest in, biomass as a viable energy option across a
broad spectrum of
sectors and scales. - Improve social acceptance of wood energy.
- Implement outreach/communication campaign to promote clean residential wood burning
in
targeted airsheds. - Expand knowledge and skill-sharing among wood energy experts, users, and interested parties.
- Identify and employ new financing mechanisms for projects.
- Expand geographic cluster(s) of projects.
- Maintain staffing capacity and momentum of DNRC's Wood Energy Program.
Anticipated project outcomes, accomplishments and desired results:
- Strengthen Statewide Wood Energy Team with a strategic and collaborative approach to developing wood energy projects in the state.
- Complete at least 2 new installations of commercially available biomass systems by the end of 2017.
- At least 1 biomass system under construction or installed at a resort/lodging facility as a high profile demonstration.
- Increase interest in biomass as a viable energy option across a broad spectrum of sectors and scales.
- Improve social acceptance of wood energy.
- Expand knowledge and skill-sharing among wood energy experts, users, and interested parties.
- Identify and employ new financing mechanisms for projects.
- Expand geographic cluster(s) of projects.
- Maintain staffing capacity and momentum of DNRC's Wood Energy Program.
